Built entirely in Japan by Howa Machinery. Howa has a pristine reputation for precision metalworking, famously serving as the OEM manufacturer for the Weatherby Vanguard and historical Smith & Wesson long guns. The Brand is RWS/Rheinisch-Westfälische Sprengstoff, a premier German manufacturer of high-end ammunition, components, and airguns. The Distributor is Dynamit Nobel, a massive German chemical and defense conglomerate that owned RWS at the time. The Model 89 was built entirely on the short-action Howa Model 1500 footprint, and accepts many aftermarket parts from the Howa.
